TOLERATING CHEMO WELL

Today marks day three of chemo and so far so good.  No reactions, no nausea, nothing.  They say that it has an accumulative effect, but we definitely haven't seen anything 'accumulating'.  Oddly enough, Johnny's counts have been good -- actually great -- his ANC has been going UP since chemo started.  Although he will need a platelet transfusion in the next couple of days, but that's minor.

We've all been staying up while Johnny gets chemo and last night we laughed so hard I cried -- the entire two and a half hours.  My stomach hurts today we laughed so much.  Just about stupid, silly stuff (almost all of it was bathroom humor, don't forget Joey is back!) so when the nurse walked in every fifteen minutes to check on Johnny, we immediately stopped whatever we were talking about and looked guilty or at the very least suspicious.  She finally asked what we were up to and why every time she walked in we all said "Shh! Here she comes!" -- you know, like what kids do in school when the teacher puts a movie on (or in my day a film strip) about the Alamo, or the day in the life of an amoeba, and left the room.

This afternoon we are going up to 16 to play 'billiards' as Johnny would say, then probably some PT, race a few Lego's and start the nighttime meds.  I've been really bad about returning emails and phone calls lately -- don't take it personal, I am trying to spend every minute with Johnny while he's up for it.

Hi Romano Clan!

I just wanted to let you guys know my heart is always with you'all, and we're always sending our love and positive energy. I'm so glad to hear that it sounds like things are progressing well! I have to admit though, when I read the 1st sentence of this blog message I read "no good" instead of "so good" and my stomach did a little flip. ;) Keep on hanging in there Johnny!
